Bible Studies

December 14 - 15 2021

December 14 – BYOB—this week we’re looking at another passage from the Hebrew Scriptures. Isaiah 9:2–7 is familiar from Handel’s Messiah and talks about the one who is to come, who it calls “wonderful counselor” and many other titles. What did this mean in the context of Isaiah and what does it mean for us? The study meets in the Fireside Room at noon on Tuesday or on zoom at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88971948936. Rev. Baugh leads the class, which is open to all; please wear a mask if you attend in person.

The World’s Most Dangerous Bible Study – December 15—Our Christmas song this week is the charming, but very materialistic, “Santa Baby” as sung by Eartha Kitt. Will also be looking at several short scriptures that are favorites in the prosperity gospel movement, which claims that God means for Christians to be materially wealthy. We will study Malachi 3:10, John 10:10, Philippians 4:19, and 3 John 1:2. The study meets on zoom at 7:00 pm at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88971948936. Rev. Baugh leads the class, which is open to all.
