Adult Discussion Group – Dr. Richard Bell

June 12, 2022 8:30am - 9:45pm  |  Fireside Room

703 South Peck Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA, USA

Join us on June 12 for a talk with Dr. Richard Bell, the author of Stolen, a new, award winning book that tells the incredible story of five boys whose courage forever changed the fight against slavery in America. Their ordeal shines a glaring spotlight on the Reverse Underground Railroad, a black-market network of human traffickers who stole away thousands of legally free African Americans to fuel slavery’s rapid expansion in the decades before the Civil War. Originally, from the United Kingdom, he came to Harvard for his Ph.D and is now Professor of History at the U. of Maryland where he is one of the leading historians of early American slavery. He also teaches an online classes at UCLA, most recently on slavery during the American Revolution. He is an engaging lecturer and discussion leader. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to hear this fascinating presentation. We will begin at 8:30 AM in the Fireside Room or online at http://zoom.us/j/3103723898.  All are welcome.
