April 3, 2022 8:30 - 9:45am  |  Assembly Hall

On April 3, join us for a joint event with the Adult Discussion Group and the Cultural Arts Board Christian contemporary artist Dr. James He Qi. At 8:30am, Dr James He Qi, a well known contemporary Christian artist, will be our guest speaker. James was among the many people sent to the countryside during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. As a young man he escaped hard labor by painting pictures of Chairman Mao Zedong. He earned a doctorate in religious art from Nanjing Art Institute having studied Medieval Art. He has a long list of degrees and accolades from several universities. He also was an artist- in-residence of Claremont School of Theology and Fuller Seminary. James has exhibited his art all over the world. One can understand the art of James when it is seen as a reinterpretation of sacred art within an ancient Chinese idiom. His story will be fascinating, and his art and beautiful book will be on exhibit. Join us at 8:30 AM in the Assembly Hall or on zoom at with at zoom.us/j/3103723898
