An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Sunday, repeating until June 13, 2021

Our Jewish friends at CTJ are planning to take three virtual tours of Holy Land sites (Nazareth & the Sea of Galilee,  ancient sections of Jerusalem,  and Mt. Zion), led by a very experienced tour guide who lives in Jerusalem.  CTJ has asked us at ADG to join them virtually.
  • May 23rd:  Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee – An introduction to the political, cultural, and historical setting of the 2nd Temple Period, also known as the era of the Gospels.  Visit the Church of Annunciation and the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount, laid down the social pillars of what soon became Christianity.  Also visit Capernaum, the center of the ministry of Jesus.
  • June 6th:  Jerusalem (ancient sections of the city) – An introduction to the chronology of Jerusalem.  Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located at the center of the Christian quarter of the old city of Jerusalem.  This church is traditionally identified by most Christian denominations as the site of the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
  • June 13th:  Mt. Zion  – Mt. Zion is home to competing traditions of huge importance to Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike.  Among the sites found on Mt. Zion, we will visit the Room of the Last Supper, the tomb of King David, and the first memorial for the Holocaust built by the state of Israel.  We will learn how this one mountain has managed to attract so many competing and diverse traditions and how they somehow manage to live together side by side.

Please email Rick Hefner at rickhefner@verizon.net to receive the Zoom information. The tours start at 9:00, but please log in a few minutes early.
