All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten - No, Really!

So this week the High School Summer Program will put on this summer's play selection:

"All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten"

I read the book years ago... and had never seen the play. So as I have been a part of the rehearsal process (with our fearless leaders: Lindsey Jacobs & Connor Raftery), I have gotten to see the poignent scenes brought to life by our talented cast (Katie, Dylan, Taylor, Skylar, Ava, Elizabeth and Keira) I have been struck by this wonderful series of little moral tales. I have laughed and almost cried during some scenes in rehearsal. It brought to mind the poem that is the inspiration for this work:

All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten

by Robert Fulghum

Most of what I really need
To know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top
Of the graduate school mountain,
But there in the sandpile at Sunday school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
Hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.

AMEN!

OK, the "amen" part was ME, not the author of the poem. But what a GREAT lesson this is for us all "adults" to remember!

I hope you will join us for this wonderful, inspiring, insightful & humorous play! Get your tickets NOW or at the door: THIS Thursday & Friday at 8pm - Saturday at 2pm.

See you there!

Blessings

Pastor Erin

Good food for thought!

Looking forward to seeing the play. And this list is perfect. We don't need much more to get along with each other in this world!
