Rainy morning in Lucerne, but that did not dampen our spirits for the 2 hour walking tour of Lucerne.  Our guides were very knowledgable and spoke very good English. Lucerne is another example of very old European cities.  The original 11th century towers for the old town fortifications are still standing.  Some of the13th century building murals still look good.  Why do we have to paint our...

Departed Interlaken about 10:30 this am. Stopped for a lake cruise ride on a side paddle boat. The boat was built in 1914 and was very nice. Even a little rain did not stop us from enjoying more beautiful Switzerland scenery. Pictures just cannot describe the magnificence of this area.   We arrived in Lucerne at 4 pm…checked into our very nice Radisson Hotel near the town center. We again... read more

Today, we had a leisure day until 3:45 pm. We visited the many varied stores…lots of chocolate, jewelers, clothing, restaurants, toys, etc. Some saw Interlaken via city bus pass that came with our stay here. Interlaken, like many European towns, has an excellent transportation system…buses, local rails, and long rail service. We rehearsed at 4 pm for our formal concert…had another great dinner... read more

Today, we saw some of the natural beauty of God’s creation. We traveled from Interlaken to Grindelwald via our tour bus…by train to Kleine Scheidegg…by cog railway to Jungfraujoch. We spend an hour viewing the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and snow. Altitude of our viewing playform was 11,782 ft. It was absolutely gorgeous. We left Jungfraujoch via cog railway to Lauterbrunen. Before dinner,... read more

We arrived in Strasbourg about 9 am amidst rain. It sprinkled most of the day while we were in Strasbourg. We walked around the old part and then went to the Strasbourg Cathedral for our 30 minute informal concert. The crowd was very appreciative…about 250. Don’t know if they wanted to really hear us or just get out of the rain! We left about 2 pm and arrived in Interlaken at 7 pm. We had dinner... read more

Delightful, cool, and windy day on board the “Douce France”. ..overcast, but fortunately, no rain. Lots of castles and small towns along the way. We arrived in Koblenz about 3 pm…explored the town until dinner at 7 pm. Like most towns along the Rhein, most were established in the 11th or 12th century. Many suffered damage in WW II and Koblenz was 85% destroyed. The town has been rebuilt in the... read more

After another delicious European breakfast, the choir had free time until 11:30 am to shop and provide aid to the local economy. We participated in the noon mass at the Cologne Cathedral with three songs. Departed Cologne for Strasbourg at 1 pm. It was overcast and rainy most of the way. We arrived in Strasbourg to board our river cruise ship about 6:30 pm. After crew intro and dinner, we... read more
